2008 Reunion Registration Information
Ahoy Shipmates! It is time to register for the 2008 Reunion, to be held in San Diego, California during the
period Thursday, June 26 thru Sunday, June 29, 2008. Bill Marchant and his committee (Napoleon Ferraris, John Fasce,
Robert Griffin, Reuel Eck, Ferd Williams, and Anthony Maimone) have done a great job in planning the reunion.
The Association has blocked off 100 rooms for those dates and a limited number are available three (3) days prior
to and three (3) days following the reunion dates, at the same rate, based upon hotel availability. The reunion hotel is:

Identify yourself as a member of the USS Richard S. Edwards Association when making reservations.
All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card or an advance deposit of the first night's room rate and tax.

Daily room rates for one or two persons per room are $114.00 plus 10.5% tax or $125.97 for Thursday, June 26th
arrival through Sunday, June 29th departure. For three persons in a room, the rate is $124.00 plus the 10.5% tax.
For four persons in a room, the rate is $134.00 plus the 10.5% tax. A weekly rate of $725.00 is available for a minimum
7 night stay. The weekly package rate available (7 day stay required) must be paid in full 30 days in advance.
Your deposit is non-refundable after two weeks prior to arrival. The cutoff date for making reservations is
May 26, 2008. Parking for overnight guests is discounted at the rate of $5.00 per night. Parking for those shipmates
living in the San Diego area and/or staying in an RV Park will be $3.00 per vehicle. You can park your RV's at the
hotel, but you are not allowed to stay in them.
The reunion will have the Poolview Room as our Hospitality Suite from 8:00AM - 11:00PM daily.

Reunion registration costs will be $85.00 for crewmembers and $75.00 per guest. This will include a hors d'oeurve
welcome reception from 5-9 PM on Thursday. Registration will be held starting at 4PM. It also includes a registration
package for each family, the dinner buffet on Saturday night and a breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. Taxes and
gratuities for all of the above are included.
The group picture will cost $15.00 and includes packaging and shipping for an 8 x 10 enlargement.

If you are planning on going on "The Grand Tour" that includes the sightseeing to Tijuana and the Midway Museum Tour,
you must submit the TOTAL AMOUNT with your "Reunion Registration" form. All other tours noted in this package are
for your own information and if you desire to take any of these tours, you will need to follow the enclosed instruction's
to make reservations.

The Hotel has a courtesy shuttle that has a scheduled run to the Zoo and SeaWorld. You can sign up with the concierge.
The Trolley stop is located at Fashion Valley Center, a ten minute walk from the hotel. The trolley offers transportation
to Old Town, Downtown and Tijuana. Remember, if you visit Tijuana, Mexico, you must have a valid U.S. passport to get back
into the United States.
For those shipmates who are planning a longer stay in San Diego, it may be better to buy the MULTI-ATTRACTION PASS
that allows you to do more for less. You can purchase 1- day thru 7- day passes. Go to website
http://www.gosandiegocard.com. It is recommended you visit the website
to become familiar with what is available in San Diego.
Getting to the Handlery Hotel is easy. They're just off I-8, two blocks from Highway 163 and a mile from I-5.
And only a 10-minute drive from San Diego International Airport. It will cost about $18.00 for a taxi cab from the airport to the hotel.

The Gaslamp Quarter located in the heart of Downtown San Diego is home to more than 125 restaurants, coffeehouses and nightclubs. It's eight blocks long (from Broadway to Harbor Drive) and two blocks wide (from Fourth to Sixth Avenues).
