2010 Reunion Tours

On Thursday, June 24th, a tour of the Newport, R.I. mansion, the Breakers, lunch at the Naval Station "O" Club, a tour of
the Naval War College Museum and a walking tour of Fort Adams has been set up. The walking tour is about 1 mile long.
There is a place to wait for those who do not want to go on the walking tour. On Friday, June 25th, a tour to Boston to visit the USS Constitution, USS Casin Young (DD 793), a Fletcher class destroyer, the Faneuil Hall Marketplace for lunch and then the Boston "Duck" tour which lasts about 80 minutes of historic sites in Boston plus about 20 minutes on the Charles River. On Saturday, June 26th, a tour to "Battleship Cove" is planned. You will visit the USS Massachusetts (BB-59) and have lunch in the wardroom cafe. You will also visit the attack submarine USS Lionfish, USS Joseph Kennedy (DD - 850), two PT Boats, 617 and 796 and a Russian Missile boat. A Memorial Service will be held onboard the USS Massachusetts upon arrival. For those arriving early or staying after the reunion, you can visit the Plimoth (Plymouth) Plantation and Mayflower, Groton Submarine Base, Mystic Seaport or go shopping at the Wrentham Outlets. If you are not interested in the daily trips, you can visit with shipmates in the Hospitality room. Plans are to have beer, soft drinks, water and donuts available for a small fee. |
